DIY Cacti Art by Leigh: Brand New Amy Tangerine Watercolor Travel Set

Hello friends! Leigh here, to share my new DIY art project! I made the watercolor cacti art with the brand new Amy Tangerine Travel Watercolor Set! This set is perfect for on the go art, planners, or any DIY project you can think of!

I love watercolor, because it is a quick art medium, and doesn't require days to dry. I made these simple cacti projects in an afternoon. The Amy Tangerine Watercolor Travel set is perfect, and I love that it comes in the cute sunglass case! I made the pom poms with the We R Memory Keepers Pom Pom Makers. The frames are from the American Crafts new Details 2 Enjoy line of DIY products.

See the new Amy Tangerine Travel watercolors at the bottom left of the above photo. What a perfect way to house everything you need to watercolor in one easy set. I used the pencil in the set to outline a light sketch for this barrel cacti. I used the mixing tray to create custom greens from light to dark by mixing the colors in the set with yellow or the dark green. The two pinks on the top right in the case were perfect for the flower.

I used purple to shade the above art piece, even on the orange plant. These are from my mind, and not a referenced photo, so they are idealized. I used the Amy Tangerine Suede Flowers from her new Stay Sweet collection to add a dimensional aspect to this DIY. The Details 2 Enjoy frames are perfect for a very dimensional art piece.

The Heidi Swapp Letterboard is an easy way to make your own quote for any holiday. My Valentine decor is all done, with a loosely referenced theme, and these easy DIY home decor pieces.

Thanks for visiting today and happy crafting!

American Crafts Snow Scrapbook Layout December 2018

Hello friends! I have a new layout using the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Collection, called New Day. The line has beautiful magenta and teal tones, for a fresh color palette.

The teal background helps the photo pop, since the photo was taken in the snow. I placed the poinsettias in a wandering vertical line to point your eye to the photo.

You can see the dimension created by folding the poinsettias, a little tip I learned from Jeniffer Gallacher. The three spots of magenta on the layout help lead your eye to the photo as well. I added punched snowflakes to two of the poinsettias.

I like the metallic shine of gold with the magenta and teal colors on the page. There are several spots where the metallic gold is repeated throughout the layout. This helps unify the page. Have you tried a new color scheme lately? Give it a go! :)

In this close-up view, you can see the white gel pen journaling . It finished off the page, and ties in the white from the flowers and the photo. I piled embellishments from the New Day collection near the bottom right of the photo.

Thank you for joining me, and happy crafting!
